Any  item can be used for a study or a still life painting. The items above are common — they are like portraits of everyday things. The onion is symbolic of my mother’s German potato salad and the lemons and eggs of her lemon pies! The other items chosen were colorful and tempting to arrange a lively design.

By far, being out in nature, near water, is the most rewarding painting experience. Nature teaches and heals. It is easy and totally human to praise God when immersed in His creation. Painting becomes prayer.
